President Trump said Hamas and his international "Board of Peace" have agreed on the next steps in a peace deal that includes Hamas' disarmament in the Gaza Strip.

Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces a domestic battle for survival in elections later this year, also reaffirmed that “as long as I am prime minister, there will be no Palestinian state.”

On Sunday, Netanyahu rejected Trump’s latest plan to advance the stalled ceasefire in Gaza, saying Israel will not withdraw from any of the roughly 60% of the territory it controls until Hamas has been completely disarmed — something the group controlling the other 40% has long resisted.

On the face of it, US President Donald Trump’s announcement that Hamas, and all other armed groups in Gaza, have agreed to disarm seems historic.
