Two fans who raised a flag of Greenland as the United States played Denmark in men’s hockey at the Winter Olympics say they did so as a gesture of European support for the island and for Denmark.

Denmark unveiled its roster for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 on Jan. 7, headlined by Ottawa Senators forward Lars Eller and Carolina Hurricanes forward Nikolaj Ehlers. This is just Denmark's second time participating in the Olympics in men's hockey. It finished seventh at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

A win over either Great Britain on Wednesday or Switzerland on Thursday would clinch a spot in the top four of the round robin standings, moving the U.S. into Friday’s semifinals in Italy.

Czechia secured the No. 8 seed, after winning just one of their three preliminary round games. They will be taking on Denmark, the 9th seed, in an elimination game of the 2026 Men's Ice Hockey Qualification Playoffs. The winner of this matchup is set to face off agaisnt gold medal favorites in Canada in the quarterfinals.

Commonwealth Avenue made it's presence felt on Saturday in their win over Denmark. And the Americans needed every bit of that Green Line contribution.

Day 8 at the 2026 Winter Olympics concluded with a resilient win for the U.S. men's hockey team. After trailing Denmark 2-1 at the end of the first period, the Americans scored three goals in the second to pull away for a 6-3 win.
